Breaking News: Newly hired defensive line coach by Michigan has been suspended due to…

Greg Scruggs, the defensive line coach at Michigan, has been placed on indefinite leave as the athletic department and football program look into the specifics of his arrest for alleged drunk driving.

About 12 hours after Scruggs’ arrest, Wolverines coach Sherman Moore announced in a statement on Saturday that Scruggs had made “an awful mistake.”

Moore declared, “He has accepted responsibility for his acts and made no excuses.”

The 33-year-old Scruggs was taken into custody at 3 a.m. on Saturday for driving while drunk, according to Ann Arbor police.

Jim Harbaugh resigned to take the helm of the Los Angeles Chargers two months ago, and Moore hired him in his stead.

Last season, Scruggs, a former NFL defensive end, oversaw Wisconsin’s defensive line.

After serving as an assistant with the Cincinnati Bearcats for two seasons, he was hired as an assistant defensive line coach by the New York Jets in 2022.

Between 2008 and 2011, he was a defensive lineman for Louisville, serving as a member of the team for three years while Moore began his coaching career as a graduate assistant.

Cincinnati native Scruggs was selected by Seattle in the seventh round of the 2012 draft.

With the Chicago Bears and Seahawks for four seasons, he participated in eighteen games.

The former heavyweight boxing champion and UFC middleweight contender accused Tyson of fabricating his training video in preparation for his July 20 bout against Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium, which will be Netflix’s first boxing event.

Tyson, 57, shared a video on social media on Wednesday showcasing his first training session before facing Paul, 27, who has a 9-1 record since he started boxing in 2020.

After a few hard combinations against a trainer wearing pads, the former “Baddest Man on the Planet” declares, “It’s day one, the fun has just begun.”

With a 31-17-1 record in mixed martial arts, 46-year-old Sonnen isn’t taking Tyson’s actions seriously.

In November 2020, Tyson—who is 50-6-2 professionally—won an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr.

Sonnen posted on X on Thursday, “In the future, if you’re going to spend five seconds hitting mitts, make sure you splash water on your face and T-shirt first, as a method to make the viewers feel you’re having a training session.”

Notoriety for his two championship matches against UFC icon Anderson Silva and his penchant for trash talk, Sonnen also took issue with Tyson and Paul’s age differential.

In an interview with the PBD Podcast, he compared it to MMA fighter Vitor Belfort taking against Evander Holyfield in 2021.

“Vitor Belfort threw him away so quickly—he has never boxed. You’re witnessing an Olympic gold medallist, this [Holyfield], Sonnen said. “Vitor, who had never boxed before, put him away so quickly that it ruined Vitor’s career in boxing.

They declined to book him once more. They described him as an old abuser. “How could you?” How are you able to do this? Vitor never had another altercation. Paul will be made fun of for engaging in this battle with Tyler.

MMA fighter and former boxer Dillon Danis, as well as former UFC champion and current analyst Michael Bisping, both criticized the fight.
