Logan Paul has disclosed that he was also offered the chance to face Mike Tyson, but he declined the offer because he thought he would prevail.
After it was reported that his brother Jake Paul would be facing the former heavyweight champion later this year, Logan Paul discussed what he believed would happen in a battle between himself and Mike Tyson.
Within the world of combat sports, shockwaves were transmitted when the battle was announced last week.
Netflix’s involvement in the fight reveal was one of the more noteworthy facts; on July 20, the event will be streamed live from the AT&T stadium.
As it continues to branch out from traditional entertainment programming, Netflix is expanding with its first push into streaming combat sports events.
Both Mike Tyson and Jake Paul have faced criticism since the announcement, with boxing fans mostly raising issues with their stark age disparity.
When Tyson and the other enter the ring, he will be 31 years old. At this stage of the sport, there has never been an age difference as great as Paul’s.
Recently, Logan, Paul’s brother, also shared his opinions about the fight and backed his brother’s choice, citing the financial benefits of accepting the match.
Speaking on his podcast Impaulsive, Paul remarked, “For both Mike and Jake, the bag (payday), I mean, at what point can you say no?”
Paul did, however, also admit that he had the chance to face “Iron Mike” in the ring but had declined the chance.
“I turned down an opportunity to fight Mike Tyson—yes, it was made—but not for a big a** bag or on Netflix. Paul shockingly disclosed, “It felt like, you know, this could be a genuine fight.”
The 28-year-old, who has only won one of his four fights because of disqualification, expressed great confidence in his chances of winning his co-ownership of Prime. The co-owner also discussed how he thought a fight with Tyson would go.
Paul countered, “I think I can beat Mike Tyson; I just think he’s too old, bro; he’s senile. I’ve been asked before, and I’m sure you have to (KSI),” he said.
Logan’s return to the ring after his victory against Dillon Danis is unknown, but it is anticipated that Paul will be involved if there is a second Misfit’s Prime card match.
