Breaking news: He is gone…..

Speculating about the Bucks’ ideal starting lineup following a fantastic offseason

With two straight first-round playoff exits under their belts, the Milwaukee Bucks are under a lot of pressure. Giannis Antetokounmpo is motivated to succeed. He never hesitates to encourage the team to improve, but the Bucks only have one first-round pick that is negotiable, and even that cannot be swapped until after the 2024 draft.

Milwaukee might take action. With the new second apron limits in place, it won’t be simple. Trading Brook Lopez, Khris Middleton, Damian Lillard, or Bobby Portis is necessary to find an upgrade. Giannis talked about the importance of continuity (subscription required), which may indicate that the Bucks are ready to contend for the title again next year.

They lose one starter because they can’t afford to keep Malik Beasley. In free agency, he’ll be after far more than the Bucks can provide. Getting an upgrade won’t be simple because Milwaukee simply offers the bare minimum in terms of alternatives. This is how their starting five seem to be following the perfect offseason.

PG: Lillard Damian

Lillard had a disappointing rookie campaign in Milwaukee. In 35.3 minutes per game, he averaged 24.3 points, 7.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steal, although his shooting percentages declined. Dame’s defense will never be perfect. His offensive style needs to compensate for those shortfalls.

Milwaukee’s defense was weak for large portions of the season, and they need to strengthen it if they want to be a genuine title contender. It would be beneficial to have a defensive stopper on the wing, but it is challenging considering their limitations.

Damian Lillard must become a superstar with the Bucks. He needs to create plays, stretch the defense, score at a high level, and create opportunities for his teammates. Milwaukee needs it, even though it is a lot to expect of an undersized guard who turns 34 this summer.

The Bucks intend to re-sign a fellow star on the wing, but for the 2024–25 season, he must be in much better health.
