Head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Chris Finch, grabs his knee following a collision with guard Mike Conley of the Timberwolves during the second half of Game 4 of an NBA basketball first-round playoff series on Sunday, April 28, 2024, in Phoenix.
Following a collision with Timberwolves guard Mike Conley during the fourth quarter of the team’s playoff victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night, Minnesota coach Chris Finch suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee.
After receiving assistance off the court, Finch rode a trolley out of the arena. The injury type sustained by Finch was verified by the Timberwolves.
Conley raced into Finch while attempting to dribble down the sideline after colliding with Devin Booker, a prominent player for the Suns. Conley attempted to brace themselves for their fall, but Finch winced and grabbed his right knee right away.
After lying down for a short while with Minnesota players, coaches, and staff surrounding him, he slowly got to his feet and received help leaving the court.
After winning the first-round series 122-116 against the Phoenix Suns, Minnesota advanced to the second round for the first time since 2004.
For the last 1:41, Micah Nori, the assistant coach, led the squad. According to Nori, Finch was receiving medical attention in the medical room, and the squad had visited him following the game.
“It’s evident that he and the men are in high spirits,” Nori remarked.
Conley claimed that he only just noticed Finch and that after the crash, he attempted to support him. Following the Game 4 victory, the seasoned guard couldn’t resist cracking a few jokes at the coach’s expense.
Conley stated, “I told him to sit his butt down; it’s late in the game; he shouldn’t be standing up like that.” He is obstructing the path. I will pray for him, though, and I know he will be okay.
