Byron Buxton can’t play outfield yet, according to Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli.
Because of his knee problems, Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli stated on MLB Network Radio that he is not yet ready to start Byron Buxton in the field. He claims that, at this point, he is unable to physically tolerate it every day.
Within Major League Baseball, there are very few great athletes like Byron Buxton of the Minnesota Twins. The issue is that for the most part of his career, Byron Buxton has struggled to maintain his health.
Buxton has never once played 100 games or more in a season since making his debut in 2015 (2017). In addition to playing in 70 games this year, he participated in 46 in 2015, 92 in 2016, 140 in 2017, 28 in 2018, 87 in 2019, 36 of 60 in the COVID 2020 season, 61 in 2021, and 92 in 2022.
The Twins have only used Buxton as a designated hitter this season in an attempt to keep him healthy because his knee issues are his main concern.
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli stated on Friday that he isn’t ready to start Baldelli in the field in an interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.
I’m not sure if Buxton will be taking the field anytime soon as of yet. His inclusion in the starting lineup each and every day is the goal.
And in order to please everyone, I won’t go too far or say something that isn’t true. What we truly want is to keep him healthy, on the field, and batting third for us.
Buxton is making contact (215) with 34 RBI and 15 home runs this season. He has eight bases pilfered.
With a 45-43 record, the Twins lead the American League Central.
This weekend, they play the Baltimore Orioles at home in a series that concludes the first half of the season.
