Despite Ober’s tremendous start, the Tigers overcome the Twins by a late margin.
Bailey Ober held the Detroit Tigers offense in check, but after he left the mound in a 4-3 Twins loss on Sunday afternoon in Detroit, the hits began to come.

With three strikeouts in six innings, Ober maintained the Twins’ three-run lead with a shutout seventh inning. Brock Stewart also pitched a perfect seventh inning.
However, the Tigers (9-6) managed three hits and three runs in 1/3 innings off of reliever Caleb Thielbar, who was activated on Sunday after missing the first part of the season due to injury. The Tigers took an early 4-3 lead after scoring four runs in the frame overall.


Mark Canha followed with a two-run double to left field, and Spencer Torkelson added an RBI single to right to score the game-winning run. Javier Baez kicked off the attack with a solo home bomb that landed 399 feet into left center.

Ryan Jeffers singled to left field in the second inning to give the Twins (6-8) the lead. The Twins led 3-0 when Christian Vazquez launched a solo home run to left center in the fourth inning.

Elevated from Triple-A St. Paul, Woods Richardson (1-0) allowed just one run and two hits in five innings pitched. It was his third time playing in the main leagues.
