Despite rumors of a new quarterback ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, general manager Joe Schoen has informed New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones that the franchise trusts in him.

The draft, which takes place in Detroit, Michigan, from April 25–27, features the Giants as the sixth pick. Caleb Williams (USC), Drake Maye (North Carolina), and Jayden Daniels (LSU) are three of the best quarterbacks in the 2024 Draft class and are predicted to be selected in the first three slots.

In the 2023 offseason, Jones inked a four-year deal for $160 million (£126 million) with the Giants, who made the decision to re-sign the quarterback after using their franchise tag on running back Saquon Barkley.

But the Giants had a difficult season the previous year, winning only six of their seventeen games, and Jones only appeared in six of those games, losing five of them.

Due to injuries, which included a torn ACL and neck issues, Jones had a challenging season. He only managed to throw two touchdowns and six interceptions.

However, Schoen made it apparent on Tuesday which quarterback he believes will start for the team: I have faith in Daniel Jones.

Despite the fact that Jones is just now returning to the field, Schoen stated that the Giants do not currently have any plans to select a quarterback in the future, despite the rumors that suggested otherwise due to their high overall pick.

With a concise declaration of intent before the draft, Schoen allayed Jones’ worries during his live speech from the NFL Combine on Tuesday.

Schoen stated, He’s actually throwing; he’s been throwing stationary for about two weeks. He’s not backing down or doing any of that. We are hopeful about where he is, and he is making every effort to get back on track. There haven’t been any setbacks yet.

“If he keeps going at that rate, training camp should begin with him ready. That doesn’t imply that the Giants won’t choose quarterbacks in the draft, particularly considering how evident their lack of depth was in 2023.
