Jazz Chisholm Jr., an infielder with the New York Yankees, is a potential star that was discovered via trade deadline.
Chisholm has exceeded expectations in his first 13 games as a Yankee. In addition to seven home runs, eleven RBIs, and four stolen bases, he is hitting.296 (16 for 54). He became the first player in franchise history to blast seven home runs in his first 12 games after being acquired in the July trade with the Miami Marlins.
Now, though, Chisholm’s UCL injury is probably going to put him on the 15-day injured list. In Chicago on Tuesday, manager Aaron Boone gave media confirmation of the diagnosis.
Chisholm, 26, is a career .249 hitter with a .311 on-base percentage and a .450 slugging percentage. He’s also quickly become a fan favorite for his expressive personality on and off the field

Primarily a center fielder in Miami prior to the trade, Chisholm moved to third base upon arrival in The Bronx and immediately gave the Yankees’ shallow lineup a boost. Yankees third basemen — primarily Oswaldo Cabrera and D.J. LeMahieu — were collectively hitting .225, 20th in Major League Baseball, prior to the trade.
Since then, they’re hitting .319, fourth in MLB, with an AL-best 10 home runs.
In the fifth inning of Monday’s 12-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox, Chisholm was injured sliding home. In the seventh inning, he was lifted from the game.
“When it happened, I think my adrenaline was still going,” he stated. “I had been stealing bases.” The ball was hit by him. My sense as a baseball player told me that, by the time Anthony Volpe hit the ball, I would have been standing on third base. I simply continued. I slid in at home while my adrenaline was still pumping. I was not immediately aware of it. I began to feel it after the first half of the inning. I entered with the trainers and (Boone). It had a slight pulsating sensation. “All right, let’s go check it out,” they said.
