Just in: Yankees’ Juan Soto rejects a $290 million contract due to Aaron Judge’s…

Superstar Juan Soto should receive a big extension offer from the Yankees in order to stay in the Bronx for the next ten years or longer.

Soto’s Impressive Season

As one of the best left-handed hitters in the league, Soto, 25, is having another outstanding season. Soto has hit.297/.427/.600 across 126 games, with 93 RBIs, 36 home runs, 15.4% strikeout rate, and 18.5% walk rate. Soto has already surpassed his personal record for home runs and is on track to tie his career-high 110 RBIs from 2019, despite Aaron Judge’s play garnering greater notice. With an 187 wRC+, he is 87% more skilled than the typical MLB hitter.

If Yankees general manager Brian Cashman didn’t give Soto a significant extension by now, he would be acting negligently. The Yankees’ hopes of winning the World Series may depend on the dynamic combination of Judge and Soto. after the long run, a deal might cost between $500 million and $600 million, but as contracts continue to climb, after ten years that investment might seem insignificant.

On Sunday, after hitting a home run and driving in two RBIs, the fans screamed for Soto to remain in New York permanently. Soto said, “I don’t know,” implying that he wanted the extension discussions to start. They must speak with Cashman.

Super agent Scott Boras represents Soto, and when a season finishes, the Yankees and Soto usually avoid talking about extensions. Not even Aaron Judge signed a long-term contract with the Yankees until he was eligible to become a free agent.

But Soto is obviously having fun in New York, and the Yankees will probably make him a competitive offer that equals whatever he could get elsewhere. It will ultimately come down to Soto’s selection, and the New York Mets’ Steve Cohen is predicted to submit a strong bid.

With the Yankees, Soto has the opportunity to become a baseball icon, especially because he is still only 25 years old and has ten more years of outstanding play left before ageing may start to affect his game. The Yankees wouldn’t be concerned if Soto switched to a designated hitter role in the future, even if he has never been regarded as a particularly good defender.

Soto has performed above average in the defensive role this season, playing 1,073.1 innings and contributing five defensive runs saved. Soto has performed admirably in a contract year, and if he helps lead the Yankees to the World Series, his value may reach previously unheard-of heights.
