Twins defeat Athletics 6-2 thanks to the continued success of Carlos Correa and Joe Ryan.
The lowly A’s were shut down by Joe Ryan, who gave up two runs in seven innings while Carlos Correa finished with three hits, including a two-run home run in the eighth.

Carlos Correa wore a purple vest and a purple hat in the dugout while plucking an inflatable purple guitar for his encore, which came after he completed his first career five-hit game.
Joe Mauer has 14 hits in five games the last time he played for the Twins in 2016.

Correa responded, “I have to contact [Luis] Arraez.” “I’ve been following the wonderful tips he provided me heading into the season.”

The Twins fantasized about what their lineup could look like with Correa, Royce Lewis, and Byron Buxton healthy over the summer. Eight hits, five RBI, and four runs were scored by the three combined.

For Joe Ryan, it was more than enough run support as he persisted in his argument.

That was more than enough run support for Joe Ryan, who continued to make his case for a spot on the All-Star team, allowing three hits and two runs in seven innings. He’s pitched at least seven innings in four of his last five starts

“Just seeing the energy, it’s just different,” Buxton said.

Leading by two runs in the seventh inning, Correa hammered an off-speed pitch from lefthanded reliever Sean Newcomb. It was a no-doubter as Correa admired his work for a moment as he stepped out of the batter’s box. Pablo López immediately retrieved the Prince-themed jacket, something he ordered in the offseason, and waited for Correa at the top of the dugout.

This is the Purple Rain-inspired version of the “Land of 10,000 Rakes” fishing vest that the Twins wore after home runs in the previous season. In a novel approach to commemorate Correa’s sixth home run of the season, Kyle Farmer took off Correa’s helmet in favor of a fedora and gave him the fake guitar, a Twins gift from a few years ago, as he passed past the dugout.

“Once they gave me the guitar, I was like, Okay, let’s do it,” Correa recalled. “I didn’t have anything planned.” “I understood what to do with it because I played Guitar Hero a lot growing up.”

Said Lewis, who singled before homer: “He’s putting on a show right now. It’s impressive. I told [Correa’s young son] Kylo yesterday that he was going to hit a homer. ‘Papito is going to hit a homer, too.
