We arrived at last. On Saturday afternoon, the Ohio State football team played its spring game amid the sun and clear skies. It was a fantastic chance to observe the players’ progress thus far this spring and the current position on the depth chart.
I simply want to offer you a few brief game thoughts for now, but we’ll write a longer post discussing some of the winners and losers from this game later. We have a lot to discuss about this game because it contained a lot of events.
What Ohio State football fans wanted to witness in this game were the quarterbacks.
Although he didn’t play much, Will Howard was the starter. He appeared to be alright when he was outside. He didn’t wow me in any way, but he made good choices with the ball.
Devin Brown passed for a touchdown and led two drives that ended in scores.
He looked better than I thought he would. At times, Julian Sayin faltered and threw a pick.
However, he concluded his reps with a powerful push. dAir Nolan had a great start to the game and scored an interception in the end zone to win it.
Without a doubt, Lincoln Kienholz was the worst quarterback available.
He appeared disoriented when tossing two picks.
With the ball, he was unsure about where to go.
Not only that, but he was running late when he did choose where to take it. It was about as awful a performance as anyone could have given. We’ll see what transpires, although there have been whispers of his upcoming transfer.
The running game seems to be well-made.
The offensive line started to move more under Chip Kelly’s play-calling, and they started to go downhill. Despite some problems with the passing game on the right side of the line, the run-blocking was excellent.
Right guard Carson Hinzman and center Seth McLaughlin started the game.
This defense is going to be really frightening.
Even without their entire secondary unit available, they managed to shut down this trio of gifted Ohio State receivers.
Both Davison Igbinosun and Jermaine Mathews were quite noticeable in the corner. Perhaps the nation’s strongest secondary is Ohio State’s.
Seeing this team perform in front of supporters was encouraging. Fans of Ohio State had a fantastic day.
Before the Spring Game, a four-star tight end pledged his commitment to the Ohio State football program. For the Buckeyes, it was a fantastic start to an amazing day.
Because of how many prospects they were entertaining this weekend, it wasn’t the only Jermaine Mathews they anticipated receiving.
In the first minutes of the contest, Ohio State received a commitment.
Cody Haddad, a three-star safety, gave them one. Haddad is a native of Cleveland’s St. Ignatius. That is a football powerhouse in Ohio that has turned out a number of talented players.
At 6’1″ and 175 pounds, Haddad is not particularly large. Still, he has space to grow in size.
Despite being categorized as an athlete as a recruit, he has demonstrated strong ball skills as a safety. He still intends to help the Buckeyes by playing safety.
A thirteenth recruit has now been added to the Buckeyes’ class. Right now, they have the nation’s second-best recruiting class for the 2025 class. That rating will be aided by Haddad and the other recruits who will undoubtedly commit over the weekend.
This recruiting class produced a number of strong secondary players for the Ohio State football team. This group of backup players may turn out to be the greatest in Ohio State’s recent history.
Great work, Tim Walton and Matt Guerrieri, on the recruiting front.
On the offensive end of the ball, Ohio State is still seeking to acquire guys. They will continue to put that first when it comes to hiring. On that side of the ball, anticipate some guys committing this weekend and the week after.
Football lovers in Ohio will be thrilled with this weekend’s action. Every year, the Spring Game is a thrilling occasion.
A commitment was made to the Ohio State football team before to the spring game. They also received one from an in throughout the match.
Following Saturday’s spring game, we got our first glimpse at the Ohio State football team’s potential autumn roster. The team’s primary priority is this.
On Saturday, the Ohio State football team enjoyed ideal conditions for its spring game.
Most fans got to glimpse the new roster for the next season for the first time. There were some excellent and some awful performances. On Sunday, we divided you into winners and losers.
Taking the big picture into consideration, the offensive line was the main area of worry before the Spring Game. In 2023, it was the weakest unit on the team. Things are by no means decided yet, as there are several fights going on up front for starting positions.
Considering what transpired on Saturday, the offensive line remains the primary source of worry. There are numerous uncertainties regarding the entire right side of the line.
At right tackle last season, Josh Fryar was arguably the poorest player on the team.
Ryan Day is pleased with his springtime improvement.
On Saturday, he was just another regular guy.
That’s a start—he wasn’t run over as he was at times during the previous season.
He didn’t appear to be a world champion, though. But it was Carson Hinzman, who began at right guard. Going into the summer, that is a serious problem.
Before the season begins, the Buckeyes must resolve this issue. This group may prevent them from winning a national championship because the rest of the team is so talented
. It appears like the line’s left side is solid. The right side and the middle require fixing.
The Ohio State football team still has the entire summer to make amends.
There is plenty time to select the correct players to offer sufficient protection to the quarterback and create some gaps for the running backs.
That doesn’t mean supporters aren’t concerned about it anymore.
