Ohio State’s coaching staff is completed by Buckeyes coach Ryan Day.
The coaching staff of the Ohio State Buckeyes is complete following a thrilling offseason. James Lauinaitis, a graduate assistant, was promoted to linebackers coach on Thursday, according to coach Ryan Day.
Following the appointment of Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator, who left Columbus to take a head coaching position at Boston College, the former head coach of the UCLA Bruins was named offensive coordinator.
Every year, it is our responsibility to determine which areas—whether related to the team or the employees—need to be modified.
And to make sure the appropriate guys are in the proper seats, we’ve put in a ton of effort and thought about it a lot. Day stated Friday from the Ohio High School Football Coaches’ Association seminar, so now it’s time to go to work.
Day played for Kelly at New Hampshire while Kelly was the offensive coordinator there, thus Day and Kelly are acquainted. Day was Kelly’s quarterback coach while he was employed with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.
Obviously, Chip and I have a long history together, so our perspectives are similar. And seeing him take off here has been fantastic, Day remarked.
It’s been a terrific start; he’s quite excited to meet the guys and wander about the building. It’s fantastic, said Day. I just know how much I like having Chip by my side.
Laurinaitis had only been a graduate assistant for one season, but Day chose to promote him after observing what the player shown in that first season.
To begin with, he is familiar with and adores Ohio State. Regarding Laurinaitis, Day remarked, He has credibility with the players and he has credibility with recruits because he has done it. And not only did he succeed in doing it, but he succeeded in the NFL at an incredible level as well.
However, I’m impressed with how he’s evolved from a player to a coach. I believe that Brian and James were players that made the most of their opportunities on the field.
They therefore apply a lot of what they’ve learned to assist players on the field as they go from the NFL to college, particularly in the later years of their NFL careers. I’ve witnessed numerous amazing things from him.
I had the chance to observe him when he was recruiting during the past few weeks. performed a fantastic job. We thought that was the proper thing to do since there is a lot of momentum.
