Ohio State offensive lineman Trey Leroux will forgo his remaining eligibility choosing to walk away from college football.

, Ohio — Trey Leroux was among the 21 Ohio State football players who participated in senior day festivities to close out the 2023 home schedule, but like many of those people, he had the option to come back.

Leroux still had a year of eligibility remaining if he wanted to use it even if he’d also graduated. The offensive lineman has chosen to move on with his life by forgoing that final year. He’ll instead embark on his professional life as a finance major, planning to start his job at JPMorgan Chase this week, according to Eleven Warriors’ Dan Hope.

The Ohio native arrived as the No. 1,139 player and No. 91 offensive tackle in the 2020 recruiting class as part of Ryan Day’s first class as head coach. Always viewed as a developmental player, Leroux early enrolled in 2020 but never was able to carve out a role for himself over the past four years. His only action as a Buckeye came in a 54-7 win over Indiana in 2021 when he played eight saps at the end of the game.

Leroux departs despite having up to two years left to play thanks to both redshirting as a freshman while also having the COVID-19 pandemic year granted to all players in 2020. His departure puts OSU at 85 scholarship players heading into spring practice.

Buckeyes on the move

Tanner McCalister only spent one season at Ohio State, following Jim Knowles from Oklahoma State in 2022, where he spent the year as the nickel safety. After a quality season that saw him record 24 tackles and three interceptions, he went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft but was quickly picked up by the Browns.

He spent most of the season on Cleveland’s practice squad but was elevated for three games, recording two tackles while playing 19 defensive snaps and 37 snaps on special teams. Now he’s on the move as the 13th player that the Broncos have signed to a futures contract.

McCalister will officially be added to the team’s 90-man active roster once the postseason has ended.
