New Ohio State Center Seth McLaughlin Reveals What He Learned From Nick Saban At Alabama

Seth McLaughlin, a former center for the Alabama Crimson Tide, is eager to contribute to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Senior center Josh McLaughlin played for the Alabama Crimson Tide for four seasons before deciding to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes, another tough football team.

A member of three separate college football playoff teams, including the squad that defeated Ohio State to win the 2020 National Championship, McLaughlin shared his insights on his time in Tuscaloosa and the lessons he acquired from great head coach Nick Saban while coaching Alabama.

Having Coach Saban as your coach for four years is incredibly beneficial to your personal growth, McLaughlin stated on Tuesday during transfer player availability.

Having him speak with you every single day about what it is to be a successful guy and what makes a man.

Regardless of their line of work, a large number of Americans would gladly pay a substantial sum of money to have that experience under Coach Saban’s direction.

The center went on to say that although the Tide would always be his alma mater, a change was overdue.

McLaughlin said, I’m so grateful for everything that I’ve done there and everything that’s been offered to me there. However, we play the sport as professionals, so I just reasoned that the adjustment would be beneficial to me.

A 2023 preseason Rimington Award Watchlist selection, McLaughlin might be hoping to make an early impression on a Buckeye squad that had trouble with the run early in the campaign.

Alabama’s running offense, which averaged over 172 yards per game and 32 rushing touchdowns, placed them in the top 15 nationally.

Conversely, the Buckeyes scored just 20 touchdowns and were in the lower half of the Big Ten in terms of rushing.

Knowing that his time in the SEC should benefit him as he navigates the Big Ten, McLaughlin wants to help change that.

“Football teams that are good are good ones. McLaughlin stated, They’re built on toughness, they have the size; and they have the talent.

You really can’t tell when those games come around because all successful football teams have certain similarities with one another.

On April 13, McLaughlin, who projects as a starter up front right away, will have an opportunity to play for the Buckeyes in the Ohio State spring game.
