Oklahoma City has earned a reputation for having a loyal and committed fan base throughout the years. The city has truly come together for its lone professional sports team, as evidenced by events like the founding of Loud City and late-night airport travel.
The past several years’ lottery seasons had hurt attendance, but when Oklahoma City surged back to the top of the Western Conference, it surged once more. Every night, the stadium was packed with fans wearing playoff shirts, a surefire indication that the city had completely sold out.
Many former Thunder players had a great time during their time in Oklahoma City because of the passionate fan base. When discussing the NBA’s top crowds, Thunder supporters appear to receive a lot of recognition from other players in the league.
Raymond Felton, a former Thunder reserve, was the most recent person to show Oklahoma City love this week. Though his stay in the city was brief, he made a name for himself among the fans, and it seems that they felt the same way.
Felton stated, “Let me tell you something, brother, OKC,” on the podcast To the Baha. “I have played for some of the best fans in my life—OKC.” We both played at Carolina, and you know how much our Carolina supporters adore us, so it says a lot. to the current day.
When we returned one night, it was approximately four in the morning. It was becoming late, and I have no idea where we were headed. Those folks were waiting for us outside, man. They were at the fence, waiting for us. Like, “We love you guys, thank you!” It was absurd.
Felton played his final two years in the NBA with Oklahoma City, where he served as the team’s main backup point guard in 2017–18. In more than 16 minutes per game that season—which was his best with OKC—he averaged 6.9 points and 2.5 assists. In addition, he had a 35.2% 3-point percentage.
