A Bloody Battle for Domination in the Diski Challenge Between Pirates and Stellies
The Stellies, who emerged victorious in this competition during the 2022–2023 season, are now tied with the Buccaneers atop the standings with 32 points.
Stellies appears to be prepared for this junior league, which has made it easier for the senior squad to access and progress through, but Joseph Makhanya’s team is leading the way with more goals scored than them.
In an attempt to signal his intention to win the league at the end of the season, Makhanya has added Azola Matrose and Relebohile Mofokeng since the DStv Diski Challenge resumed in Durban two weeks ago.
They will play SuperSport United, the reigning champions, at Rand Stadium on Saturday (10 a.m.), and they will need to win.
Additionally, Stellies will play concurrently at Wolfson Stadium in KwaZakhele against Chippa United, whom they defeated in the first round.
After defeating his opponents, Stellies coach Evangelos Vellios stated that it would be unfortunate to lose without earning any points following a victory over a formidable squad like the Pirates one week prior.
