Jalen Hurts is supposedly the highest-paid NFL player.
The Philadelphia Eagles and its quarterback, 24, have agreed to a five-year contract extension with the National Football League, the organization said Monday. “We’ve reached to terms with Jalen Hurts on a 5-year extension through the 2028 season,” the team said in an Instagram photo beside the star athlete.
Ian Rappaport of the NFL Network and ESPN’s Adam Schefter both tweeted that the agreement would last until 2028 and cost a record-breaking $255 million. “$179.3 million guaranteed for injury,” Rappaport wrote about the “complex” arrangement.
Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports Group, which also represents LeBron James, brokered the deal, according to CNN. Rappaport also revealed that the extension included a “no-trade clause.”This is allegedly a first for the Eagles.
PEOPLE contacted the Philadelphia Eagles and Klutch Sports Group for comment.
The club is now looking forward to an even better season.
“The thing about Jalen that I’m so optimistic about is he’s just got this incredible — I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know here, but seeing him almost every day, he’s got an incredible passion for being phenomenal,” Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie said on March 26 at the NFL Annual Meeting in Phoenix. “You can see it in the excellent ones.” We’ve all seen it in other sports, and certain quarterbacks in this league are defined by their attention to detail and work ethic.
