Eagles reveal their coaching staff for 2024

Nick Sirianni had the most wins in his first three seasons as the Eagles’ head coach, having won 34 games during the regular season.

Additionally, he is the only Eagles head coach in history to lead the team to three consecutive postseason berths to start his coaching career.

Along with Bill Walsh, Sirianni is only the second head coach in NFL history to add five or more victories to his team’s total in back-to-back seasons. He has overseen two of the biggest win total gains in Eagles history.

In 2023, Michael Clay, in his third year as the team’s special teams coordinator, oversaw a squad that included punter Braden Mann (49.8 gross average, 43.9 net average), and kicker Jake Elliott (93.8% field goal percentage, 7 field goals of 50 yards or more), both of whom set franchise records.

Furthermore, Britain Covey was second in the league in average (14.4 yards per return) and first in punt return yardage (417). Using Pro Football Focus’ grading system, the Eagles’ special teams as a whole finished fifth in the league and first in DVOA.

The defensive coordinator is Vic Fangio.

Vic Fangio started his NFL career in 1986 as a linebackers coach with New Orleans. He has almost 40 years of coaching experience.

He worked for Carolina, Indianapolis, Houston, San Francisco, Chicago, and Miami as a defensive coordinator. From 2019 to 21, Fangio led Denver as its head coach.

Dubbed a evil genius by edge rusher Khalil Mack, who played for Fangio in Chicago, Fangio was the NFL’s Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018 while he was with the Bears.

He served as an advisor during the Eagles’ run to Super Bowl LVII in 2022 before taking a job as defensive coordinator with the Miami Dolphins in 2023.

Head coach Nick Sirianni stated, Vic’s reputation clearly speaks for itself. He has coached at a very high level in this league for many years and has a superb defensive mind.

I’ve had the opportunity to observe Vic’s exceptional game knowledge, passion, and work ethic, which are what make him an outstanding coach. I can’t wait for our players and coaches to observe it firsthand and learn from him.

Born outside of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Fangio has deep ties to the Philadelphia region. In the 1980s, he started his coaching career with the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL. In his one and only season there, he was successful with Miami.

The Dolphins placed ninth in yards allowed per play (2022) and tenth in yards allowed (1822) in the 2023 NFL season. (14th in 2022).

In addition, the Dolphins tied for eighth place in the NFL with 27 forced turnovers and third-placed sack total of 56.

Some of the top defensive minds in the league appreciate and admire Fangio for his career exploits. Regarding Fangio, former head coach of the New England Patriots Bill Belichick stated, I believe Vic is one of the top defensive coaches in the league. He’s had a great deal of success with his defensive philosophy, approach, and system.

The offensive coordinator is Kellen Moore.

Kellen Moore, 34, comes to the Eagles after spending the 2018–2022 season coaching in Dallas as both an offensive coordinator and an offensive assistant. He also spent the previous season as the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Head coach Nick Sirianni stated, “Kellen has demonstrated a wonderful ability to lead an offense at every level of the sport while garnering the faith and respect of his players and teammates. Kellen is an established offensive coordinator, a former NFL player, and a Heisman finalist.

He’s a very intelligent football coach whose in-depth understanding of the game has made him a skilled playcaller in this league.

As an NFL coach, Kellen has guided some of the league’s top offenses and assisted in the development of some of the best quarterbacks. Kellen is a welcome addition to our team.

Moore, a quarterback from Boise State who was not selected in the 2012 NFL Draft but was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in 2011, spent six seasons in the league with Dallas and Detroit, and is regarded as a promising young talent in league circles.

Moore, who oversaw the offense in Dallas from 2020 to 22 and called the plays, had a great deal of success there.

He twice guided the Cowboys to league-best yardage totals and once (2021 season) led the NFL in scoring (30.4 points per game).

During that regular season, Dallas averaged an astounding 401.4 yards per game. Dallas finished second in the NFL in 2022 with 28.8 points per game during the regular season and first in the league with 71.34 percent red-zone touchdown efficiency.

The Cowboys had the second-highest point average (26.7) and second-best overall offense (391 net yards per game) in the NFL during the four seasons that Moore managed the offensive.

They also had top-10 passing and running efficiency. In those four seasons, they also placed among the top four in terms of third-down percentage (44 percent).

A number of serious injuries to the offense dogged Moore’s season in Los Angeles, notably the injury that sidelined top quarterback Justin Herbert for the last month of the campaign.

The Chargers averaged 23 points per game with Herbert throwing 20 touchdown passes and 7 picks before the injury.

The Chargers were seventh in the NFL in total offense heading into Week 6 of 2023, right before injuries truly started to affect the assault. They averaged 388.8 yards per game and 5.8 yards per play.

With a 106.3 passer rating, Herbert ranked third in the league. In 44 drives, he had guided the Chargers to 13 touchdowns and six field goals.

Moore was a finalist for the head coaching position of the Miami Dolphins in 2022. According to Pro Football Focus, Moore was the second-best offensive playcaller in the NFL during that season.

Running backs/assistant head coach Jemal Singleton

Jemal Singleton helped an Eagle gain his first selection to the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive year.

D’Andre Swift, who was acquired in a draft day trade, reached Pro Bowl honors by surpassing the 1,000-yard plateau for the first time in his four-year career.

With 1,049 rushing yards, Swift led the league in rushing yards. During Singleton’s first two seasons in Philadelphia, the Eagles led the league in both touchdowns and rushing yards.

Christian Parker, coordinator of the passing game and defensive back

Christian Parker, a rising star in the NFL coaching ranks, was Denver’s secondary coach for the last three seasons.

He is recognized for having contributed to the development of two-time second-team All-Pro safety Justin Simmons, cornerback Patrick Surtain II, who has made two All-Pro teams and one Pro Bowl in his three seasons, and other defensive backs, such as Ja’Quan McMillian, PJ Locke, and Caden Sterns, who had breakthrough seasons in 2023.

When Vic Fangio was the head coach of the Broncos in 2021, Parker collaborated with him as the defensive coordinator for the Eagles.

Parker spent two seasons as a quality control coach in Green Bay before joining the Broncos coaching staff. This offseason, he attended interviews with Green Bay and New England to be their defensive coordinator.

“Dude, he’s sharp. He is intelligent. He’s quite famous. Last June, Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph said of Parker, He is a fantastic partner to work with. I’ve coordinated for almost seven years now as an experienced coach.

Now that my tape is public, I’m trying to think of new ways to do things. It’s been enjoyable to talk to Christian every day and bounce ideas off him regarding his past experiences with males and Vic (Fangio). His players adore playing for him, and he’s knowledgeable and works extremely hard. He is a celebrity.

Parker was employed by Texas A&M and Notre Dame as a defensive analyst before to entering the NFL. He was also Norfolk State’s and Virginia State’s defensive backs coach.

Kevin Patullo, Associate Head Coach and Coordinator of Passing Games

Entering his fourth season with the Eagles, Kevin Patullo is the associate head coach for the second time. With Patullo’s help, Jalen Hurts has grown into a two-time Pro Bowl quarterback. Hurts achieved a rare feat as the third NFL quarterback to win at least 27 games in 29 starts since 1950.

In 2023, Hurts became the Eagles’ all-time leader in yards (4,463) and touchdowns (38) scored. Hurts has scored at least 20 touchdowns passing and at least 10 more yards rushing in consecutive seasons.

Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Lineman Jeff Stoutland

Jeff Stoutland, the coach with the longest tenure on the staff, is back for his twelfth season leading the offensive line.

Stoutland has coached at least one Pro Bowl selection in each of his first 11 seasons in Philadelphia, which is one of the most remarkable streaks in the sport.

Guard Landon Dickerson, tackle Lane Johnson, and center Jason Kelce all made the Pro Bowl in 2023, extending the run. Stoutland has coached three Pro Bowl selections in a single season for the sixth time.

Senior defensive assistant and defensive lineman Clint Hurtt

Clint Hurtt has coached defenses in the NFL for ten years, having previously played defensive line at the University of Miami.

Hurtt became an assistant head coach in 2018 after being hired by the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 as a defensive line coach. He has been the team’s defensive coordinator for the past two seasons.

Hurtt coached the defensive line and linebackers for the Chicago Bears from 2014 to 2016, working under new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who led the Bears’ defense from 2015 to 2018, prior to joining the Seahawks.

Cornerbacks Roy Anderson

Roy Anderson, a former quarterback for Howard University, has been a head coach for almost 20 seasons, offering a challenge to rival signal callers.

He began his NFL career in 2005 as a player personnel assistant for the Ravens, where he oversaw the organization of free agent tryouts, assessed players, and kept an eye on prospective trade and waiver transactions. In 2008, he became a coach for the Ravens.

After that, Anderson coached the Indianapolis safeties from 2012 to 2015, when he helped Mike Adams get selected to the Pro Bowl in consecutive seasons. After that, he spent a season in San Francisco before moving to Chicago to work with Vic Fangio in the 2017–18 season. In those categories, Anderson assisted Chicago in leading the NFL in yards per play (4.8), takeaways (35), interceptions (27), three-and-outs (26.8%), scoring defense (17.7 ppg), and running defense (80.0 ypg). Eddie Jackson and Adrian Amos, the starting safeties, were developed under Anderson’s direction.

In the 2017 season, Jackson was selected to the First Team All-Pro and received his first career Pro Bowl invitation. With six interceptions, Jackson also concluded the season fourth in the NFL.

Following a season as a defensive analyst at LSU, Anderson served as the assistant defensive backs coach in Minnesota from 2020 to 22 and the secondary coach in Seattle from 2023 to 2024.
