Sad news: ‘Its such a difficult moment for me.’ -Steelers RB in tears as he announces departure following…

The Pittsburgh Steelers have parted ways with former Harvard running back Aaron Shampklin. Shampklin was promoted to the 53-man roster after Jaylen Warren sustained a knee injury in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, he remained inactive during the game against the New York Jets, as the team opted to elevate Jonathan Ward instead. Ward has taken on a larger role, not only seeing more carries than Shampklin but also making a notable impact on special teams.

There’s a possibility that Shampklin could return to the Steelers’ practice squad, which currently has an open spot following Ward’s promotion to the active roster. The Steelers now have four running backs on their main roster, with La’Mical Perine on the practice squad for added depth. Cordarrelle Patterson has missed the last four games due to an ankle injury.

This season, Shampklin has recorded six carries for 17 yards across three games for the Steelers. Prior to joining Pittsburgh, he spent time with the Dallas Cowboys. After initially being released following training camp, Shampklin was re-signed to the Steelers’ practice squad when injuries thinned out the running back lineup.
