Rafael Nadal and Mery Perello’s Relationship Timeline: From Teenage Romance to Everlasting Love

Game, set, and match!Rafael Nadal and Mery Francisca “Xisca” Perelló fell in love young and have been together since.

The couple, who started dating as youngsters, have kept their relationship private.

In an excerpt from Rafael Nadal’s 2011 memoir, Rafa: My Story, Perelló stated, “I prefer not to talk much about Rafael, even if my family asks.”

“The truth is that I just don’t feel comfortable discussing these issues, even in private. This is what works for both myself and Rafael as a pair. “We would not have it any other way.”

However, they have talked up about their relationship’s major milestones throughout the years, including their engagement in May 2018. (The couple kept the proposal a secret for nearly eight months before confirming it.)

“When you’ve been together for 15 years, we don’t need to discuss much,” the professional athlete stated during a 60 Minutes interview in 2021. The decision to drop down on one knee seemed easy after so many years together. “We have to do it, finally.”

Perelló, for her part, laughed about how Nadal proposed while the couple was on a romantic trip to Italy.”Yes or no!” she remarked.

In October 2019, the couple married in La Fortazleza in Mallorca, Spain, after being together for less than a year. The newlyweds were joined by approximately 350 loved ones, including Spain’s King Juan Carlos I.

Two months after saying “I do,” Nadal reminisced on his most treasured experience from that year.

“To say farewell to all of you, I leave you with this amazing memories of 2019 and wish you all the best in 2020!” He posted on Instagram in December 2019, beside a photo of himself and his bride holding hands at their wedding.

The tennis player later spoke openly about his desire to have children with Perelló. In a January 2020 interview with Hello! magazine, he stated that he plans to start a family. “I value children and encourage them to pursue their interests. … At our current ages, we will not wait five years.”

The pair had been married for just over two years when Nadal announced that they will soon be a family of three.

“If all goes well, I’ll be a parent,” he declared at a June 2022 press conference. “I’m not used to discussing my private life. We live more calmly by keeping a lower profile. I don’t expect it to have a significant impact on my life.”
