What will the Silver and Black do with the No. 13 overall pick in the Raiders 2024 Mock Draft Tracker 1.0?
Now that Super Bowl LVIII has concluded, the 2023 season is formally finished, and the draft order has been decided.
In the weeks preceding the NFL Draft, Raiders.com will gather the most recent mock drafts from esteemed analysts and examine the players they project the Silver and Black to choose at No. 13 overall.
Examine the inaugural edition to find out what experts believe the Raiders are capable of.
Interpretation: Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of the Chargers and a former coach of McCarthy at Michigan, has expressed his admiration for the athletic and powerful quarterback who won the national championship.
McCarthy might be selected if the Raiders take his advice and decide Aidan O’Connell would be better off as a backup.
Analysis: At Michigan, McCarthy followed instructions. Based on the 2023 season, he isn’t my QB4, but his teammates adore him, and he just wins. The Raiders need a quarterback, and he’s a terrific athlete with a huge arm.
Interpretation: The Raiders require a quarterback, but they also require a lot of other needs. Additionally, if the new administration wants one of the top three quarterbacks, they may be a trade-up contender and have more draft cash than Denver. If not, Antonio Pierce and Tom Telesco should start by identifying the top run-blocking OT in the draft.
Analysis: They could definitely need a cornerback, but I believe they’ll prioritize giving Maxx Crosby more support on the defensive line. With his youth, length, strength, and speed, Murphy is the complete package.
The Raiders’ new offensive playcaller, Luke Getsy, is among the team’s highlights from the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl.
Analysis: DeJean is more effective on the outside, and although he can play both man and zone well, he is stronger in the latter position. An excellent run defender as well.
Analysis: Quinyon Mitchell is a player who, aside from his preference for playing non-Power 5 opponents, has nothing to dislike. He possesses the physical attributes, quickness, aggression, and ball output that teams look for in an impact player.
Interpretation: A very fluid athlete, Arnold developed into a ballhawking corner in his senior year at Alabama.” Significantly improved Raiders secondary.
Analysis: You may have heard that he topped the FBS with a completion percentage of 77.4 in the previous season. However, did you know that on planned rollouts, he lost accuracy the least out of all five Power Five quarterbacks? You do now.
Analysis: Having just turned 21, McCarthy has the necessary tools to be that player. He started his two years at Michigan.
Scouts commend his arm strength and ability to make difficult throws in high-pressure circumstances, as well as his mobility and toughness as nails.
He is by far the least experienced quarterback in this class when compared to the other elite quarterbacks, having only completed 44 touchdown passes and nine interceptions during his college career. However, given his potential and ceiling, he should be picked in the top 15.
Analysis: Considering his size, Murphy possesses tremendous explosive power. In this situation, it seems like the Raiders should choose him with ease.
Analysis: I could imagine Tom Telesco adopting a similar strategy in his first round with the Raiders after using his first pick as Chargers general manager to choose D.J.
Fluker, an Alabama right tackle. By upgrading the right tackle position, Latham can free up Thayer Munford Jr. to kick inside.
Whether the team sticks with Aidan O’Connell at quarterback or looks elsewhere in 2024, Latham will help keep him upright and improve the run game, according to the analysis.
