Josh Jacobs, a running back for the Las Vegas Raiders, is once more a free agent. Multiple teams that could be possible destinations for the standout running back are revealed by CBS Sports.
The top running back Josh Jacobs was not selected by the Las Vegas Raiders to activate their franchise tag.
Should the veteran back decide not to rejoin the Raiders, other teams will be vying for his services.
Since Lamar Jackson took over as the starting quarterback, the Ravens had the best running offense, according to Kerr.
Their offense has produced success with every running back they’ve added, and Jacobs would undoubtedly score a ton of points in Baltimore.
Given that Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins are about to enter free agency, the Ravens would prefer to add a power back to their offense.
While Dobbins and Edwards are undoubtedly players Baltimore would prefer to keep, Jacobs would make a good backup.
Kerr stated that Jacobs fits into Jim Harbaugh’s offensive scheme since he will need a power back. As an unrestricted free agent, Austin Ekeler is probably going to be moving, therefore the Chargers will need a top back to take his place.
The AFC West is already familiar to Jacobs, and Harbaugh can get another two or three years out of him (2022–2023). This would fit right in.
With $67.3 million in salary cap space, the Texans can sign a top running back in free agency, such as Jacobs, who would be a nice addition to Dameon Pierce.
Naturally, Jacobs and Pierce would compete for carries, but Jacobs would be a huge help to C.J. Stroud and relieve some of the pressure on him to win games in the closing minutes. Jacobs excels in the fourth quarter whenever the Texans take a lead.
Kerr believes that Jacobs would be a good fit for the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles, who struggled in the ground game in the second part of the season, need to make an upgrade at running back. Although D’Andre Swift might make a comeback, he would be best served in a running back-by-committee role with an effective power back, something he lacked in 2023.
Finally, Kerr thinks the Raiders are a good chance to retain their star running back.
Who says you can’t return home? Jacobs’ carries and output increased after Josh McDaniels was fired during the previous season.
Jacobs averaged 4.0 yards per rush and 79.4 yards per game in the five games he participated in, according to Kerr.
Even if the Raiders still need a top-tier running back, the offense might look a little different with Luke Getsy as the new offensive coordinator.
In the event that Aidan O’Connell, or any other rookie quarterback, starts, they also need someone to carry the ground game.
Regardless of the offensive coordinator, Jacobs is the north-south runner that the Eagles are chasing. Kellen Moore would prefer to use Jacobs in a power back role, much as he did with Ezekiel Elliott in Dallas.
