To suggest that Philippe Clement has left his mark on discipline since joining Rangers would be an understatement.
The team is just behind in goals scored and is tied for first place in the Scottish Premiership with one game remaining, having already won the Scottish League Cup. He is now allegedly planning to upend everything by making a lot of moves during the summer transfer window.
With the arrival of players on loan like Oscar Cortes, Mohamed Diomande, and Fabio Silva, Clement’s first transfer window in Scotland last month may prove to be crucial in the title fight. According to reports, Cortes may make his loan move permanent this summer.
Not all transfer news, though, as goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin and forward Borna Barisic are scheduled to leave Rangers at the end of the season when their contracts expire and become free agents. Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Ridvan Yilmaz’s future, the Gers will be completely without a left-back option for the upcoming campaign.
Despite starting the summer transfer season as champions, Ibrox appears to be pleased with a handful of exits. Marmar Roofe is another player anticipated to depart Rangers this summer, according to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider. This is because the Gers decided not to extend the forward’s contract, allowing him to depart as a free agent like Barisic and McLaughlin.
With the decision, Roofe’s patchy career in Scotland comes to an end. At times, he battled injuries. Moreover, the Scottish powerhouses will be able to deduct Roofe’s alleged weekly salary of £26k, making him one of the Rangers’ top paid players, from their payroll. With several players apparently ready to move, it appears like change is in the air at Ibrox come summertime.
“Important” Roofe needs Rangers exit
The former backup quarterback for the Detroit Lions, David Blough, is reportedly taking a big step forward in his career by taking a job as the assistant quarterbacks coach for the Washington Commanders, according to a report from On3. This move, which was verified via social media and personal relationships, represents a significant turning point in Blough’s career as a coach. At 28, he brings a new viewpoint from his days as an NFL player.
“Kemar is very important. In the last months he has struggled a little bit with some injuries but he is still working hard on the training ground to be ready.
“I gave him a compliment in the locker room because it is not easy, especially for the players who haven’t played a lot in recent weeks, to keep training hard and wait for your chance.
“His chance came against Aberdeen and he made the difference so I am really pleased for him. Not only for him but he represents the players who haven’t played a lot. In the coming weeks, when we will also play again in Europe, there are a lot of games to be played and we need to use everyone in that moment.”
