A pitch inspection has been announced, casting doubt on Dumbarton’s match against Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

The field at Dumbarton Stadium will be inspected by officials tomorrow at 1pm, in advance of the 5.30pm kickoff.

“Supporters are advised there will be a pitch inspection ahead of tomorrow’s match at 1pm,” a Rangers statement said.

“#RangersFC will communicate the outcome of the inspection as soon as possible afterwards.”

A message on the Scottish Cup X (formerly Twitter) account said: “Pitch inspection for the fourth round.

“There will be a pitch inspection at Dumbarton Stadium tomorrow at 1pm ahead of @Dumbartonfc v @RangersFC  in the @scottishgas  Men’s Scottish Cup Fourth Round.”

A cold spell that has brought freezing temperatures and snow to some parts of Scotland has threatened to make conditions unplayable for players nationwide.

It follows the cancellation of the Brora Rangers vs. Cove Rangers game due to an unplayable surface caused by a thick layer of snow covering the field.
