Rangers Point Deduction ‘Costly’ as Club Appeals and Releases Official Statement on ‘Ugly’ December Incidence

The Ibrox club released an official statement on December 3 admitting sanctions could come their way after meeting with the SFA and Police Scotland.

Rangers Football Club’s Statement read: “As everyone at Rangers FC prepares for a massive month of fixtures, the club reminds supporters the use of pyrotechnics is not only dangerous, but also illegal within sports stadia. Rangers regrets the display of pyrotechnics at Dens Park last month, which resulted in a fire alarm triggering, and our match with Dundee FC being temporarily suspended.”but also illegal within sports stadia.

Supporters who bring pyrotechnic devices to football matches are at risk of arrest and put the club at risk of football sanctions.

After a prior meeting with the SFA, Dan Plumley has stressed that Rangers had to issue a statement warning fans about pyrotechnics.

The financial expert acknowledged that infractions could eventually result in a point penalty, with the early penalties intended to have a negative financial impact on the team.

Ultimately, the points deduction hurts the fans more than the finances of it, so I’m not saying it will get to that stage, but if it carries on and carries on, more sanctions and penalties will become a factor.

The club have got to put that statement out and at the very least, it’s going to hurt the club in the pocket but you don’t want to run the risk of anything bigger down the line if it carries on.”

In other Rangers news, Plumley has insisted that the club can argue they have missed out after a £900m+ deal was signed off
