MSN reports that RTV Noord and writer Rik Elfrink have confirmed that both players have a good chance of adding to Philippe Clement’s team at Ibrox next month.

Over the past week, reports in Scotland have connected Rangers to both players. Clement and his group are hoping to bolster the squad’s offensive capabilities following the loan signing of Fabio Silva from Wolves.

They are now considering making a bid for Van Veen, who has already shown his mettle in Scotland by playing for Motherwell, where he scored 29 goals in 44 appearances in the past.

After moving back to the Netherlands in the summer, he is currently with FC Groningen, but as director Wouter Gudde stated earlier this month, they are very much open to a deal.

The broadcaster quotes him as saying, “I talk to Kevin on the phone almost every day, but if there is interest because he is not playing, we will listen.”

“We will work with a departure if another club makes a solid offer and the solution works well.”

In addition, MSN notes that the striker is still residing in Scotland, where his spouse recently gave birth to their first kid. Should Rangers choose to pursue him, this information may be advantageous.

Good news for Oppegard as well: PSV Eindhoven is reportedly “open to a departure” in January provided the offer is appropriate, according to Elfrink.

The 21-year-old has only made one appearance for the Dutch team this season—as a substitute in the Champions League 1-1 tie against Arsenal—but they would permit a transfer to Ibrox if one were to come up.

The young player might “run into someone he knows” in Nil Koppen, who spent years working as a scout at PSV and will start work as Rangers’ director of football recruitment on January 1.

It is unclear who is driving for the transfer—him or Clement—but the notion is there, and there is now a good likelihood that he and Van Veen will end up at Ibrox the following month.
