DONE DEAL:Washington Redskins Officially Sign Veteran RB After…

The Washington Redskins officially signed Adrian Peterson to a 2-year, $8 million plus add-ons deal.

The Washington Redskins officially welcomed Adrian Peterson back on Sunday when they made the announcement of his signing.

Peterson and Washington reached an agreement last Wednesday to share a two-year contract worth $8 million (£6.04 million), according to multiple reports.

Following Derrius Guice’s torn ACL in training camp, Peterson signed late and played in 16 games for the Redskins last season, rushing for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns.

After a remarkable 2,097-yard season with the Minnesota Vikings in 2012, where he came up just eight yards short of Eric Dickerson’s record set in 1984, Peterson’s 1,000-yard campaign was his eighth of the career.

With 13,318 rushing yards, the seven-time Pro Bowler is ranked eighth in NFL history. With another 1,000-yard season, he would surpass three more players:

Jerome Bettis (13,662), LaDainian Tomlinson (13,684), and Curtis Martin (14,101).

With 106 career rushing touchdowns, Peterson, who turns 34 on Thursday, is tied for fifth place all-time with Jim Brown. To move up to fourth and pass Walter Payton, he needs five more.

During his 149-game career, Peterson also had 272 receptions for 2,223 yards and six touchdowns.

On Monday, the Redskins also revealed the addition of offensive tackle Ereck Flowers, a free agent. Several reports state that Flowers inked a $4 million, one-year contract. After being selected by the New York Giants with the ninth overall pick in 2015, he was released in October and played his final seven games of the season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Adrian Peterson, a running back, is returning to the Redskins for a two-year, $8 million contract. Following Derrius Guice’s ACL tear in the first preseason game as a second-round rookie, AD was signed the previous year.

Peterson agreed to a $1 million-or-so one-year vet minimum contract. He now returns on a $4 million-a-year contract

Despite the Redskins’ disappointing 2018 season, Peterson’s story was among the best. AD flew into a rage and disproved the doubts of many.

He had 208 receiving yards and another touchdown through the air in addition to his 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Though he has stated that he has plenty of energy left, he will turn 34 next week.
