Ronnie O’Sullivan is used as an example of a snooker star who was dubbed ‘pathetic’ during a World Snooker Championship row.
Ronnie O’Sullivan famously battled with Hossein Vafaei in 2021, and their dispute came to a peak last year.
Jimmy White and Alan McManus have criticized Hossein Vafaei for encouraging the World Snooker Championships to move away from the Crucible following his first-round loss to Judd Trump.
The Crucible’s contract to host the Triple Crown event expires in 2027, and some players have spoken out against the venue.
With only 980 seats, it is one of the smallest arenas for a world championship event.
O’Sullivan, Trump, and Ali Carter are just a few of the players who have asked for the tournament to be transferred to a larger location.
Following his defeat to Trump on Sunday, Vafaei joined the call for the World Snooker Championships to be moved.
But the Iranian snooker champion made headlines for his comments, alleging that the Sheffield venue’smells pretty horrible’ and calling for the tournament to be moved elsewhere.
White was enraged by Vafaei’s unabashed views on the Crucible and believes he will regret his comments, citing a recent disagreement with O’Sullivan.
“If he wins the match, will he say that?” White asked on Eurosport.

“It’s simply pathetic. I don’t understand it. He didn’t perform; he was beat.
“A couple of years back, he played O’Sullivan and came out with all that nonsense…it’s just ridiculous.” These are things he will regret.
They reunited at last year’s World Snooker Championships, and O’Sullivan claimed that the criticism “turned him on.”
McManus also criticized Vafaei’s opinions on the Crucible and questioned the 29-year-old’s motives.
He responded, “Two things: it does not smell unpleasant, and nothing is wrong with this place. That is pure rubbish.
“I’m not sure what he wants…”Does he want flowers and a prawn sandwich on the way in? I do not know.
“You come here to play snooker, not to smell the roses and blossoms.
“This is a place to conduct business. If Diana Ross, or anyone else, came here to perform, it would be a place of work, not a place to be pampered.
