This Sunday, February 11, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs will square off in the Super Bowl.
George Kittle, a tight end, and Arik Armstead, a defensive tackle, both missed their second consecutive session. Armstead has issues with his foot and knee, while Kittle is suffering from a toe problem.
Kittle, who has been recovering from a toe ailment, missed practice on Friday for the third straight day. However, following the first week of preparation for Super Bowl LVIII against the Chiefs, he was not officially labeled as injured. Even though Kittle hurt his toe somewhat during the NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions, he told reporters he wasn’t worried about it and that he would be back on the practice field the following week. If the big game were this weekend, Kittle would probably be able to handle it.
Kittle led all tight ends with over 1,000 yards throughout the regular season, despite his meager contributions in the Lions game (only two catches for 27 yards). He also had a big impact on the game against the Packers in the Divisional Round, hauling in four passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. Kittle’s skill set would allow him to recover in the Super Bowl, particularly against a Chiefs unit that had trouble stopping tight ends in the latter part of the season.
