After the World Cup later this year, Thomas du Toit, a tighthead prop from South Africa, will join Bath.
Du Toit was a member of the South African squad that won the World Cup in 2019 and has been with the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship since 2014.
Before joining the Sharks again at the end of 2014, he also played for Munster, an Irish Pro14 team, for three months.
An immediate retirement from rugby has been announced by Scotland International Hogg.
Thomas is a winner, according to Bath rugby director Johann van Graan. “Having competed for the Springboks at the top level in world rugby, he has experience winning at the highest level.”At scrum time, he is a world-class operator. Few players in the world have the ability to play at an international level on both sides of the scrum, maintain control, and wield destructive force. We have added him to our team as another player who has excellent carrying ability to get his team over the gainline.Having captained both the Sharks and South Africa A, Thomas demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities, and we are thrilled that he has decided to further his rugby career with Bath.
Having won four of their 16 games this season, Bath and Newcastle Falcons are presently tied for the lowest spot in the Premiership standings.
According to Du Toit, he is eager to help and support the club’s future.
“I was thrilled and knew Bath was the place I wanted to be when I spoke with Johann and heard his vision for Bath,” he continued.
“I want to push myself and improve my game in a setting that encourages growth and accomplishment.”Everyone talks about how legendary The Rec is as a venue for performances, and from what I’ve heard, fans flock there. every time, which is special.”
