Fernando Tatis Jr. is out for the Padres’ pivotal game against the Phillies due to a quad injury.
The San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies are set to play their first game of the season without Fernando Tatis Jr. Due to a quad injury, the team’s star right fielder is out, so veteran David Peralta starts in his place.
Tatis Jr. has been coping with the injury for a while, getting treatment, and exhibiting symptoms of discomfort during games, according to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune.
In an attempt to end a four-game losing streak, the Padres are without him. Furthermore, Tyler Wade will replace Ha-Seong Kim at shortstop after he is sidelined.
Padres manager Mike Shildt said, “You pick your spots.” Our current 13-game streak is our third in a row. Leaving those guys on vacation at home bothers me.

In place of him, the Padres will start veteran David Peralta in right field in the second game of their series against the Phillies. The San Diego Union-Tribune’s Kevin Acee reports that Tatis Jr. has been recovering from a quad injury.
Although Tatis has “received treatment, limped after some hard runs in the field or on the bases, and had his upper leg wrapped after virtually every game,” according to Acee, he has not discussed the injury.
The Padres are trying to snap a four-game losing streak, so Ha-Seong Kim is also not in the starting lineup. At shortstop instead, Tyler Wade will get the start.
Padres manager Mike Shildt told the Union-Tribune on Tuesday, “You pick your spots.” Our current 13-game streak is our third in a row. I dislike sending those guys home for days off.
