Simone Biles gained notoriety after her successful 2024 Olympic campaign when it was revealed that she had bought a Hermès purse while in Paris. The USA Gymnastics star received praise for treating herself, but other people took issue with her flaunting her money.
Biles responded by correcting the record on her purchase and making fun of people who were critical of her spending habits.
The Olympic legend took to Threads to clarify that she was not the one who purchased the Hermès handbag. Instead, it was a gift from her parents.
“My parents bought me my Hermès bag. Don’t be mad at me, be mad at your parents,” Biles wrote.
As expected, Biles’s admirers swiftly went viral after learning the truth and denouncing those who had mocked her. Since then, her article has received 3,000 comments and nearly 80,000 likes.
“To those who believe my message lacks tone… She is replying to those who have criticized her for purchasing a Hermes purse. To be clear, Simone says that it is a gift. Really, these days it seems like nobody can do anything correctly on the internet “a fan wrote.
“Wear that bag baby,” another person suggested. Fuck the people that despise you.”
“No one deserves that bag more than you do,” a fan continued. On social media, a fourth person said, “Talk yo talk Simone!!!!!”
Others also emphasized that even if she bought the bag with her own money, the 27-year-old superstar can spend how she wants it because she worked hard for it.

Sure enough, it’s no one’s business where Simone Biles or her family spend their hard-earned money. Not to mention that Biles deserved some reward, especially after her performance at the Paris Olympics.
