The most decorated American gymnast in history arrived at Soldier Field on Saturday to support her husband, Bears safety Jonathan Owens, as Chicago defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 27-3. Owens had won three gold medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Biles posted “Bear Down” to her Instagram Story.
Following a season with the Green Bay Packers the previous year, Owens inked a two-year deal with the Bears in March. During the preseason game, Owens recorded four tackles, three of which were solo.
Biles is giving back to Owens for encouraging her in Paris. In order to see Biles participate at the Olympics, Owens was given permission by the Bears to miss a few days of training camp and the Bears’ opening preseason game against the Houston Texans. Owens was present when Biles won gold in the women’s gymnastics all-around and team finals. In Paris, she won another gold medal (for vaulting) and silver medal (for floor work).
After injuring her calf during floor workout warm-ups at the Paris Games earlier this month, Biles has been wearing a boot on her left foot as a precaution. On Saturday, she was seen donning the boot. But there was another piece of gear that had some Bears supporters giddy.
Biles wore a bespoke jacket with pictures of Owens on it with a black romper and bucket hat. Bears supporters instantly noticed that pictures of Owens wearing his No. 34 Packers jersey were placed on Biles’ jacket.
One social media user wrote, “Okay @krisjuszczyk – time for a new custom Bears fit for @Simone_Biles!” in reference to designer Kristin Juszczyk, who is the wife of San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk. Juszczyk gained notoriety for making custom clothing for celebrities like Brittany Mahomes, Taylor Swift, and Simone Biles.
Biles will take part in the “Gold Over America Tour,” which will make its debut on September 16 in Oceanside, California. Thirty arenas around the United States will host the tour, which includes a visit in Chicago on September 29, the day the Bears play the Los Angeles Rams.
Stick Talk Cajun-Hibachi is a restaurant located in Houston, Texas that serves traditional Southern seafood boils and fried lo mein noodles, among other hibachi favorites. The restaurant combines Japanese and Cajun cuisine. As soon as word leaked out on social media about the Olympian’s first meal back, Stick Talk’s owner disclosed that Biles’ spouse, Jonathan Owens, had picked up the takeaway order on her behalf. According to reports, Simone ordered a side order of noodles and two plates of chicken fried rice with vegetables and hot garlic butter.
Jonathan Reitzel, a co-owner of the restaurant’s hospitality business, commented to media sources amid the hoopla around the acclaimed athlete’s homecoming, saying, “Maybe we’ll have to name a dish after her.” We think this was a wise choice, especially since Biles will probably continue to be a significant figure for years to come. One that aspiring athletes will undoubtedly be emulating as they seek for additional channels for connecting with their idol, the gymnast.
We all enjoyed watching the events unfold together as the Olympics of this year produced some of the greatest sporting moments in history. In the process, Biles broke the world record set by Shannon Miller and earned eight gold medals. We also believe that she deserves all of the flowers being sent her way, having had one of the most amazing performances in Olympic history, and we can’t wait to see more items named in her honor.
