Sad News: ‘Sister Wives’ star Meri Brown is ‘heartbreaking’ as she is given ‘release’ from church to divorce Kody Brown due to…

Officially, Meri Brown and Cody Brown’s marriage is over.

Meri, 53, discloses in a video snippet from the Sunday, October 13 episode of Sister Wives, which was initially posted by Today, that although she and Kody have been officially divorced since 2014, she just completed an additional step to dissolve their marriage through their church, the Apostolic United Brethren.

“Hey, I started the process,” I texted Kody. He never replied to my text, she says. “In two weeks, if you want to give any opinion, have anything to do with it or whatever.”

Meri continues by saying that she recently traveled to Utah to “meet with the leaders of our church” and that during her visit, the church granted her a divorce, or what is referred to as a “release.”

She says to the cameras, “I was granted what is called in our faith, a release, which is practically the equivalent of a divorce.” It was a really difficult conversation—heartbreaking, in that this was not what I wanted to do. When I married Kody, I did not intend for this to happen.”

The reality personality clarifies that although the couple’s marriage was still going strong ten years prior, their divorce was finalized for legal reasons.

“I did a formal divorce with Kody back in 2014, and the only reason I went through with the whole thing was so he could legally marry Robyn [Brown] and then adopt her three older kids,” she says. “Yet our spiritual ceiling and marriage remained intact.”

“We get married and stay together forever. That’s the goal, she continues. “That implies it’s done once I had that terminated or discharged.”

In the Sister Wives episode airing on September 22, Meri explained why she wanted to dissolve the union. “If he doesn’t want me, I don’t want to be, like, bonded to him for eternity,” she clarified. “I think it would be best to just keep this between us.”

Meri revealed that Kody was “sort of hesitant to it” despite her “asking him how he felt about moving forward with the release.”

She claimed that after “lived in limbo in this relationship for nearly a decade,” she was “moving forward” with the release.
