As he steadily reassembles in anticipation of another chance to reclaim his position atop the boxing world, Anthony Joshua is going unnoticed.
AJ’s 22-0 winning record came to a crashing, shocking halt against Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019, before he was defeated twice by Oleksandr Usyk despite two valiant efforts to fend off the ferocious Ukrainian fighter.
Since then, he has gone about his business with quiet confidence and recorded four victories on the spin against Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou, in that order.
There have been no belts on the line, no titles clinched or defended, but AJ is climbing the ladder once again as he rebuilds momentum on the road towards calling out Tyson Fury – or even a third shot at Oleksandr Usyk.
Anthony Joshua’s next fight has not been confirmed yet, though AJ has outlined his plans for 2024 with potential opponents and dates.
Speaking in April 2024, Joshua told talkSPORT: “Whenever they tell me there’s a date, you know I’ll be ready 100 per cent. It’s gonna be in London, Wembley Stadium.”
This is what I’m being told. If that’s what they say, they normally back their word so let’s go with that. Wembley, September 20th or 21st (2024).
On June 1st in Saudi Arabia they’ve got the 5v5 card. You’ve got Filip Hrgović v Daniel Dubois, and you’ve got Zhilei Zhang v Deontay Wilder.
