In June 2023, the former world heavyweight champion received the Belgium Golden Gloves (called locally as the “Gant d’Or”) at a gala ceremony in La Louviere, Belgium. “This is a really important event in Belgium and for the Belgian boxing community,” Marc Duvinage, president of the Belgium Golden Gloves, told The Ring. “Many champions were present to congratulate the living legend of boxing.”
