SAD AND TERRIBLE NEWS: HE IS GONE……

When the Cardinals struck a deal to acquire quarterback Joshua Dobbs from the Browns, they were in Minnesota, preparing for a game against the Vikings.

A few months later, on the week they play the Browns, the Cardinals are trading Dobbs to the Vikings, who are struggling at quarterback after starting quarterback Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles this past weekend. Kyler Murray is close to making a comeback for the Vikings.

In exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick, the Cardinals will give the Vikings a conditional seventh-round pick in 2024. Pending a Dobbs physical, the deal is pending. (Atlanta initially produced the seventh-round selection.)

Coach Jonathan Gannon arrived at the beginning of Tuesday’s regularly scheduled practice, despite not often speaking on Tuesdays.Tuesday’s regularly scheduled coordinators press conference began with Coach Jonathan Gannon, who rarely speaks on Tuesdays, discussing the agreement.

“I just wanted to say thanks to Josh for all of his help,” Gannon stated. Upon entering, he engaged in combat. He’s a true professional for what he accomplished for our group. I’m really grateful to him. Josh is thrilled about the chance to travel to Minnesota and play.

Back in August, Dobbs and a seventh-round pick from the Browns were exchanged for a fifth-round pick by the Cardinals.

Dobbs was benched this week in favor of either Murray or rookie Clayton Tune, who will start Sunday at Cleveland. Dobbs started the first eight games of the season for the Cardinals following his arrival. With Tune being the only quarterback on the 53-man roster as of right now, Gannon claimed the Cardinals will be adding another quarterback. Jeff Driskel was on the practice squad until recently.

Murray is still listed as PUP. If no other quarterback was signed, the Cardinals would need to activate him for a backup role, which seems doubtful.

On Monday, Gannon stated he was unsure if Tune or Murray would start on Sunday.

over his first four games with the Cardinals, Dobbs performed admirably; however, over his final four games, he declined. Dobbs finished with an 81.2 passer rating in his eight games played for the Cardinals, completing 62.8 percent of his throws for 1,569 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions. With an average of 5.5 yards per carry and 258 yards gained on 47 carries, he was also the team’s second-leading rusher.

Gannon had stated that Dobbs would keep starting on Sunday. He stated on Monday that he was sitting Dobbs in favor of Tune or Murray.

“My responsibility is to keep playing excellent football,” Dobbs stated following Sunday’s contest.

That one is for the Vikings, now.

WORK ON YOUR SQUAD MOVES
The Cardinals release CB Quavian White and DL Jacob Slade and add OL Vitaliy Gurman to the practice squad. Additionally, they placed RB Damien Williams and WR Jeff Smith on PS Injured Reserve. Williams injured his foot against the Ravens, however he was still the No. 2 running back when James Conner was out.
