The Boston Celtics have been probably the most disappointing team in the league this season, and Kyrie Irving believes his club is nearing “rock bottom.”
Irving didn’t mince words when he gave a harsh evaluation of his struggling squad this week.
“You’re almost at that rock bottom point where the club is going to blow up,” Irving told Sports Illustrated.
“I’m not claiming we’re there, but I don’t have any more time to spend.”
Marcus Smart, Irivng’s teammate, also discussed the Celtics’ troubles.
“I don’t know what to say to you guys at this time,” Smart admitted.
“For the first time in my life, I have literally no answers to any questions.
“I’m honestly not sure what that is. I’m stuck right now.”
Vegas bookmakers anticipated the Celtics to win 60 games, but they only have an 11-10 record.
Despite boasting a star-studded lineup that includes Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum, and Gordon Hayward, Boston has struggled offensively, ranking 25th in the league.
Given that we are nearly a quarter of the way through the season, now is the time to turn things around. Kyrie Irving has apologised for shouting “f*ck Thanksgiving” after it sparked widespread outrage.
Irving made the comment during his Celtics’ 117-109 loss to the Knicks at TD Garden on Wednesday.
After being told a happy Thanksgiving by a reporter after the game, Irving retorted that he did not celebrate the occasion, stating, “f*ck Thanksgiving.”
But on Thursday, he made a point of retracting those remarks.
I meant no disrespect to the holiday or those who celebrate it in a respectful manner. I am grateful for the time we can all spend with our families. We are always one. 🔺👁
He then informed NBC Sports Boston that his views were also influenced by his Native American ancestry.
Irving’s mother was a Standing Rock Sioux tribe descendant, and he was named “Little Mountain” during a Lakota naming ceremony in August.
Most of us have grown accustomed to Kyrie Irving expressing unexpected things.
However, this does not mean that his words do not have the potential to offend individuals.
It was the same with his much-discussed flat earth remarks, which, according to Irving, enraged a big number of scientific professors who complained he had made their work considerably more difficult.
Kyrie definitely has good intentions, but it’s possible that he’s only now recognizing the actual weight of his remarks.
