Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will miss the rest of the 2023 NFL season with a wrist injury, head coach Zac Taylor revealed on Friday.
Taylor said Burrow will most likely require surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist after an MRI on Friday morning revealed the severity of the injury.The Bengals quarterback had left their 34-20 loss to the Baltimore R
avens in the second quarter. He slumped over in obvious distress after throwing a four-yard touchdown pass to Joe Mixon.
Burrow said he felt a pop in his wrist on the touchdown pass but was in pain before that play, and added after the game that “everything I’ve seen so far indicates that surgery is going to be required.”
The NFL is reviewing the team’s reporting of Burrow’s injury status prior to the game. The Bengals released and then deleted a video on social media showing Burrow coming off a team bus with his hand in what appeared to be a soft cast.

Burrow revealed on Friday that he used a compression sleeve on his wrist but was not harmed until Thursday night.
