Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has been suffering with form and health in recent months, has talked about his attempts to work with his girlfriend Paula Badosa.
Tsitsipas is still competing in the Indian Wells competition, but Badosa, the previous winner, had to retire because of persistent injury issues.
The two had actually participated in the mixed doubles demonstration competition called Tie Break Tens together last week, reaching the final before falling to Ben Shelton and Emma Navarro.
After just nine matches in as many months, Badosa appears to still be unprepared to resume singles play.
Additionally, Tsitsipas has discussed his efforts to support the former world No. 2 during this challenging time, saying, Having to be there and continuously pushing her to type of get better and bounce back on the court, it does create a difficult moment for not just Paula but myself, as well.
She’s come and gone a little. It has been a difficult period for both of us since, although she did play a few matches, she didn’t feel well again. This is the most irritating aspect of the whole situation.
On my end, I’m trying to find the appropriate words and the proper things to say, the Greek said.
You obviously had a lot of faith in it when it first started and thought, Okay, you just need to stay dedicated in the process of healing and becoming better.
But eventually, you become so puzzled by what is happening to your body that you are unable to say much at all.
“I’m just trying to be there as much as I can to make her happy that we’re at least working together to find a solution.
Time will tell, I’m sure of it, and before long she’ll be completely recovered and prepared to run full bore again.
Badosa is not the only player who has been struggling with form; Tsitsipas has also been out of the top 10 in the world for the first time since 2019.
Tsitsipas, nevertheless, has asserted that the rankings may not always accurately represent a player’s true ability, saying that being outside of the top 10 is just a part of the journey. Players that were in the top 10 have occasionally dropped out. A few of them went far farther.
It can be challenging for players with high rankings since, naturally, some of them have produced their best tennis in the past, which has kept them in the top five and achieved impressive outcomes.
Actually, I’ve had those in the past against players who, in terms of experience and skill, are far superior than those who should not be outside the top 20 or 30.
In addition, the 25-year-old stated, These can be difficult matches, and I feel like maybe being a contender for that title puts a little more pressure on the other players, but I have shown over the last few years that I am capable of being there. Simply put, things haven’t worked out lately, and my tennis form hasn’t been the best it has been in previous months.
