After staving off Alexander Zverev’s valiant comeback in Monte-Carlo 3R, Stefanos Tsitsipas expressed relief, calling it “an adventure of a lifetime, really unique.”
At the Monte-Carlo Masters, Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas characterized his effort to fend off a fierce comeback by Alexander Zverev of Germany as exceptional and once-in-a-lifetime.
The Greek ended his third-round match against Zverev at 6-0 in the second set, leading by a set and with match points.
However, the German proceeded to win five games in a row, forcing a tiebreak in the second set. In the end, Stefanos Tsitsipas won the match 7-5, 7-6(3) in the tiebreak.
“It was an experience of a lifetime, in my opinion. Thus, it’s definitely not something I deal with on a daily basis. In the post-match on-court interview, Tsitsipas stated, “Momentum changed tremendously at one point. You know it went one way and then it went absolutely the other way again.”
Stefanos Tsitsipas stated that he was attempting to comprehend the true course of events and that it was really unusual.

The Miami Open was the venue of the Russian’s lone triumph over Tsitsipas last year. On clay, the two have only ever met once. In May 2022, Tsitsipas defeated Khachanov in three sets at the Rome Open.
