Paula Badosa shed tears as she celebrated her three-set victory over No. 14 seed Daria Kasatkina afternoon.
The former world number two has dropped out of the top 100 rankings after dealing with persistent injuries for the past two years.
Kasatkina entered the match on a career-best seven-match winning streak, having won on grass at Eastbourne the week before, but Badosa was the first to draw blood, winning the first set 7-6 (8-6).
Holding Kasatkina 6-4 in the second set, the player, who is dating fellow professional Stefanos Tsitsipas, went on to win the decider by the same scoreline, collapsing on her chair in relief.

In the final, Tsitsipas delivered a merciless and overpowering performance to easily defeat Casper Ruud.
Well, Tsitsipas does have plans to enter the singles tournament but he’s also going to play doubles too.
The player normally enters the mixed doubles with Maria Sakkari – but she might be left disappointed when it comes to the Olympics.
Despite the Greek female star saying she would love to play with Tsitsipas at the tournament, he is keen to focus on the men’s doubles instead.
Tsitsipas, 25, won 6-4, 6-1, making him the fifth player in history to win the title three times.
