“Beating Stef in clay is a commendable accomplishment. I’m really proud of my performance and my fight today. I kept myself together even during a set and a break,” Jarry remarked.

“I simply kept looking for new strategies to give myself a chance on his serve. I was aware of my skill level.

“In order to prevent him from pushing me back, I had to make some backhand adjustments. He performed so well because of this. I accomplished those two tasks. This fight was excellent tonight. Hopefully, I’ll be stronger tomorrow.

At the Foro Italico in Roma on Thursday, Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No. 21 seed, defeated Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No. 6 seed, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4, to progress to the Rome Masters final four.

He is playing in his maiden Masters 1000 semifinal and appears certain to make it back into the ATP Top 20.

With this loss, Tsitsipas’s clay-court record for the year is currently 13-3. Additionally, he is unable to become the only man to have advanced to the Rome semifinals three times in a row since the year 2000, together with Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
