Stefanos Tsitsipas lists his best tennis players, although he omits a significant player.
Stefanos Tsitsipas strikes me as a kind, compassionate, and all-around nice guy. He may be the tennis power couple with his partner Paula Badosa, as both players provide entertainment both on and off the field. On the other hand, Tsitsipas responds to inquiries in an honest, thoughtful, and open manner.
The Greek was asked who he believed to be the best men’s tennis players right now in a recent interview with Tennis TV.
His response was a little unexpected, not because of the person he mentioned but rather because of the one he did not.
Though it is unlikely that Tsitsipas intended any offense, athletes are self-motivated enough without much perceived hostility. The match between Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic may be lopsided the next time around.
This is because, in Tsitsipas’ opinion, Djokovic is not the best player on the ATP tour right now; rather, it is Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. In fairness, Tsitsipas might be right. Sinner has only suffered one loss and won two trophies so far this year.
Although Alcaraz did not start the year at his best, he did win at Indian Wells, where he defeated Sinner in the semifinals.
According to Stefanso Tsitsipas, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are the two best players right now.
It’s almost shocking that Djokovic hasn’t yet won a tournament. After losing to qualifier Luca Nardi at Indian Wells, he was shockingly defeated by Sinner at the Australian Open. In a world where Alcaraz and Sinner are rising, any decline in play can be devastating, even though Djokovic’s form may just be a passing fad.
Alcaraz and Sinner are the next-best players, while the Serb is still ranked first. It’s also very likely that Djokovic will continue to be ranked number one until the start of the summer, but things could start to shift starting with the French Open. In order to keep his title intact, the Serb must prevent Alcaraz from defeating Roland Garros.
The form of the top three players will probably affect the standings by the conclusion of the summer. Djokovic may potentially drop to the third rank. Sinner and Alcaraz might engage in what Tsitsipas believes to be the fight for No. 1.
