The women’s US Open winner revealed that combining forces with three-time Olympic medallist was something both players wanted, and hinted it was only a matter of time before the two would take to the court together.
The US Open women’s winner Emma Raducanu believes that tennis players Andy Murray and her might soon pair up in mixed doubles.Raducanu, 19, made the announcement that would undoubtedly make British supporters happy, stating that both players were excited to play together. They may even collaborate for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. While a specific date has not yet been announced, she stated on Tuesday, June 7, on BBC Breakfast that it might occur “soonish”:”We feel like we both want to do it, but we haven’t really spoken about it,” Raducanu remarked. “I hope it happens, but I’m not sure if this will be the year.”

In the mixed doubles ring, Murray has a history of teaming up with the greatest players. He won two of his three grand slam singles titles at Wimbledon.

The 36-year-old and 23-time singles grand slam winner Serena Williams previously competed together in 2019 at The Championships in south London.

Williams and Murray, who between them had seven Olympic medals, advanced to the Round of 16 before the top seeds eliminated them.

At the London 2012 Olympics, Murray and Laura Robson won silver in mixed doubles. At his home Games, Murray won gold in the singles competition. Before taking an extended hiatus from the sport owing to injury, he successfully defended that title by taking home a second gold medal at Rio 2016.

The information was released after Raducanu, the top-ranked player in the world and a British citizen, suffered an injury during her first-round match of the 2022 grass-court season at the Nottingham Open, the same tournament where she debuted on the WTA circuit this past year. She pulled out of the first round against Viktorija Golubic, losing 4-3, citing a side ailment. She later said she “no idea” if the injury will prevent her from competing at Wimbledon.

In contrast, Murray overcame a late deficit to win his match in Stuttgart on Tuesday.
