But if that were not enough, the Yankees are looking to put together a powerhouse team and on defense they already have in their sights the Curacao native Jurickson Profar, for whom New York intends to pay $25 million.
Profar on Aaron Boone’s radar
2024 was a great year for Profar, who in the Caribbean Series was one of the key players for the Curacao Suns, achieving fourth place in the tournament.
While in the Major Leagues, he achieved with San Diego an average of .280 at bat, with 24 home runs and an OPS of .839, which makes him a very versatile player.
If he accepts to join the Yankees, Profar would be teaming up in the Bronx Bombers’ outfield with Aaron Judge in right field and Cody Bellinger in center field, in a lineup that boasts some impressive numbers that would include nine All-Star selections, three Most Valuable Player awards and seven Silver Slugger awards.
If he accepts, Profar would sign for two seasons and a salary of approximately $25 million, a budget that fits with what the Yankees projected, who, unlike the Mets, prefer to make a budget adjusted to what they need to return to the World Series and achieve their first title since 2009.
