As Jannik Sinner hopes to get back on track at the Canadian Masters after being forced to pull out of the Olympic Games, he has announced he’ll soon be a father.

The defending champion of the Australian Open was advised by physicians not to play, so he was unable to compete for a medal in Paris. Sinner felt sick for a few days and was finally diagnosed with tonsillitis. In spite of his absence, Italy has taken home two medals: Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini advanced to Sunday’s gold medal match, and Lozenzo Musetti won a bronze in the men’s singles.

“The Olympics were one of my main goals for the season, so it broke my heart not to be able to go to Paris.”Sinner stated at the Montreal draw ceremony.
But when you take a bigger picture of things, Musetti ended up with a bronze, so it makes an Italian happy, and I’m delighted for him.

Sinner will now turn his attention to Montreal, where he will compete to become the first person to win the Canadian Open twice in a row since Rafael Nadal in 2019. It is the only Masters 1000 competition that alternates annually between Montreal and Toronto, in contrast to other events in the series.Due to the Olympics, a number of well-known players have withdrew from this year’s draw, including Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

The 22-year-old, though, is not taking anything for granted. Sinner had not yet achieved a Grand Slam victory or risen to the top of the PIF ATP rankings when he won the tournament a year ago.

The number is just different, the world number one stated.
“Myself and my group endeavour to streamline the procedure, our everyday schedule, to ensure everything is done as efficiently as possible and to simply be prepared for any obstacle that may arise.”I’m overjoyed to return here. It all began with the Wimbledon semifinals of the previous year, and I came here to win my first Masters event.I’ve been quite consistent for the past year, and we’ll attempt to continue that at least in the upcoming months.

Sinner may play unseeded Frances Tiafoe or Alejandro Tabilo in the third round of his tournament. In the semi-finals, he will play Andrey Rublev, Daniil Medvedev, or Stefanos Tsitsipas, assuming the draw proceeds in accordance with the seedings.

“I’m thrilled to be back in this place. Two years ago, I wasn’t a very good player; perhaps, I can get a little bit better now. However, let’s see,” remarked Sinner, who was defeated by Pablo Carreno Busta in the third round of his previous Toronto match.
“I think there’s a similarity between the court from Toronto and this one, however maybe it flies a little higher here. However, I’m just glad to be here since there’s usually a great vibe.

One of the two Masters 1000 competitions that take place ahead of the US Open is the Canadian Masters. Cincinnati is home to the other.
