The Miami Heat are acquiring assistance in their backcourt, which has been filled with criticism this season.

News broke on Tuesday morning that Miami is trading for Charlotte Hornets guard Terry Rozier in exchange for veteran Kyle Lowry and a first-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The news left Heat fans ecstatic because of their lack of major moves in recent seasons. Not to mention, the front office failed to acquire multiple All-Stars, including Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal, and Donovan Mitchell.

The deal is viewed as a major victory for Miami due to their stats and age. Rozier is averaging a career-high 23.2 points on 45.9 percent shooting, compared to Lowry’s 8.2 points on 42.6 percent shooting. Rozier is 29 years old, while Lowry is 37.

It should come as no surprise that Heat fans are rejoicing over the acquisition. Rozier provides an offensive engine alongside their Big Three of Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro. Lowry brought Miami’s fan base frustration this year due to his inconsistent play. He was removed from the starting lineup last week.

Fans began speculating about Lowry’s next career decision, which many believe is a buyout. This action would allow the six-time All-Star to join a contending team in hopes of winning a second NBA championship before retirement.
