Mark Andrews set to return for Ravens in HUGE boost before Chiefs game, with tight end initially expected to miss the season with an ankle injury from brutal hip-drop challenge by Bengals’ Logan Wilson in November
The return of tight end Mark Andrews to the AFC championship game this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs is a huge boost for the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens activated Andrews from injured reserve on Friday, according to ESPN’s Ian Rapoport, and he will likely play this weekend in front of Baltimore supporters.
Andrews suffered an ankle injury against the Cincinnati Bengals in November, which initially declared him out for the remainder of the season.
Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson threw down a hip-drop challenge to the three-time Pro Bowler.Andrews left the field early in the game, raising concerns about him even though the Ravens won 34-20.
Before the first quarter was over, Andrews hobbled to the locker room, was initially deemed questionable, and was eventually ruled out.
Following a vicious hip-drop challenge from Cincinnati linebacker Logan Wilson, Andrews sustained injuries.
After finishing 13-4 on the season and defeating the Houston Texans 34-10 in the divisional playoffs, the Ravens advanced to the conference championship.
With Lamar Jackson having an MVP-caliber season and leading the club in passing and running yards, Baltimore came together. Jackson ran for 821 yards and completed 328 of 494 passes for 3,881 yards and 27 touchdowns.
Conversely, the reigning champions emerged victorious in the AFC West with an 11-6 record.
The Chiefs come into Sunday’s game fresh off a narrow 27-24 victory over Buffalo in the divisional playoffs and a commanding 26-7 victory over the Dolphins in the wildcard round.
Andrews is hoping to carry on his strong performance from the previous seven games to help Baltimore reach the Super Bowl. Andrews led all tight ends in the league with 45 receptions, 544 yards, and six touchdowns prior to the injury.
