Emma Raducanu, a tennis player who hopes to close 2024 on a high note, has added another competition to her calendar, suggesting that she has taken some lessons from her previous US Open nightmare.

Sofia Kenin eliminated the 21-year-old from the competition last month.

Emma Raducanu, a tennis player who hopes to finish 2024 on a high note, has added another competition to her calendar, suggesting that she has learnt a few lessons from her previous US Open nightmare.

With the intention of defeating Sofia Kenin and moving on to the second round, the 21-year-old entered the year’s final Grand Slam.

However, Raducanu lost to her American opponent in three sets, and the British player has subsequently had to face a lot of criticism.

After losing against Kenin, the tennis player admitted to herself that, looking back, she might have played more.

Emma Raducanu, a tennis player who hopes to close 2024 on a high note, has added another competition to her calendar, suggesting that she has taken some lessons from her previous US Open nightmare.

Because she believed that playing on clay would not be advantageous in the last few months of the season, Raducanu did not attend the Olympics in Paris this summer.

In addition, the young player participated in just one hard-court competition before the US Open.

In her current quest to reclaim the form that won her a Grand Slam championship just three years ago, Raducanu seems to be taking note of those teachings.

Now, she has committed to compete at the China Open, which is scheduled for September 25–October 6.

Raducanu had previously committed to participate in the Hong Kong Open and the forthcoming Korea Open, which will place from September 16 to September 22.

She is obviously attempting to play her way back into shape after being criticised of not playing enough, as evidenced by the addition of a third competition to her schedule.

One of the most promising young players in British tennis is still Raducanu. Her triumph from three years ago at Flushing Meadows demonstrates that she can compete with the best when she’s healthy and on fire.

And as she gets ready for the Australian Open in January, she’ll be aiming to silence her detractors with some incredible performances.

Martina Navratilova recently discussed Raducanu in an interview following her issues in New York.

The tennis icon also urged Raducanu to “take ownership” of her career, saying that she appeared rusty in her loss to Kenin.

“I think Emma needs to take ownership of herself, of her brand, and of her tennis career most of all,” she told Sky Sports.

“She must be specific about her objectives and team, and she must not absolve herself of responsibility.

When Emma Raducanu exited the US Open at the end of the previous month, there were accusations that she hadn’t played enough.

“Aryna Sabalenka took responsibility for fixing her own serve when she encountered issues and others attempted to assist her.

“Emma should be in charge and is old enough to know what’s right; surround herself with good people, put your trust in them, and wait for the results to show.”

“She is excellent technically, but she needs more matchplay. She is still not as fit as she ought to be, in my opinion.

“I think you should take care of your body if you don’t want to play in the Olympics since the surface is different.

It might not be ready for this level of strain.

“She needs to think long-term… not tomorrow or next week.”
